City of Topeka - New Construction Affordable Housing - Neighborhood Revitalization Act (updated January 2011)

FHLB Homeownership Set-aside Programs (HSP) (updated March 2010)
Programs designed to help first-time homebuyers in rural areas, homebuyers with a disability, and existing homeowners in federally declared disaster areas.  Applicant must have an income 80 percent or less of area median, based on income of all household members. Additional requirements apply.  Programs open March 1, 2010. 

Kansas Housing Resources Corporation - First Time Home Buyers  (updated March 2010)
This program provides down payment assistance for the purchase of a first home - must be qualified Kansas buyers with incomes at or below 80 percent of median income in their area.

Topeka Habitat for Humanity (updated March 2010)
To qualify for a home, individuals must meet certain income guidelines and demonstrate the ability to pay a $500 monthly mortgage payment (no more than 30% of gross household income). 

US Bank (updated January 2012)

American Dream Mortgage! Maximum purchase price is determined by income level.  Maximum household income is limited to 80% of HUD area median income.

USDA Rural Development Direct Loan (updated June 2010)
The USDA Rural Development Direct Loan program provides loans to low, very low and moderate income homeowners in rural communities.  Programs include:

  • Direct Housing Loans (income limits - available only to low and very low income applicants)

  • Guaranteed Rural Housing Loans (income limits but no loan limits - available to low, very low and moderate income applicants)

  • Home Repair Financing (can assist applicants in the very low income category obtain needed repairs to the home at 1%.  Applicants 62 yrs of age or older, with little or no repayment ability, may be eligible for a grant up to $7,500 or a loan-grant combination.)
