What Is HCCI?

Housing and Credit Counseling, Inc. (HCCI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the community by helping consumers achieve housing and financial goals.  HCCI began as a grass-roots tenant's rights organization in 1972 and has grown into a multi-service organization with four offices throughout Northeastern Kansas - Topeka, Lawrence, Manhattan, Emporia - and a staff of 22. 

What Does HCCI Do?

The mission of HCCI has remained the same since its inception: assist the community by helping consumers achieve housing and financial goals and resolve related difficulties with dignity.  Core programs include:

• Financial Literacy and Credit Counseling  - This program provides budget and debt education and counseling.  Consumers who are financially overextended due to job loss, divorce, hospitalization or overspending can learn about the financial options.  HCCI administers a low-cost debt repayment program, which enables consumers to repay their debts with reduced interest and fees.  More...

• Homebuyer Counseling - Prospective homebuyers come to HCCI to find answers regarding all aspects of the homebuying process, including qualification, affordable housing options, the homebuying process and home maintenance.  More...

• Tenant and Landlord Counseling - This program provides counseling and education for both tenants and landlord, including information on local city ordinances, Kansas State laws, and federal acts that affect tenant and landlord relationships.  More...
